Presiding over the Hillcrest Stake meeting was Elder Carl B. Cook, President of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency, accompanied by Elder Khumbulani Mdletshe, an Area Seventy.
Jacques de Wet was called as the new Stake President under the direction of Elder Cook. Gregory Wiblin was called as First Counsellor and Siyabonga Alfred Hurbert Mkhize as Second Counsellor.
A stake president is the lay leader who oversees Church programs in a geographic area composed of individual congregations called wards and is responsible to help the members of his stake in their efforts to follow Jesus Christ.
President Colin Wilford, was released after serving eight years as the Hillcrest South Africa Stake President. Elder Cook expressed his appreciation to President and Sister Wilford for their service. Sister Wilford said, “I know the Lord has blessed my family.”
Elder Cook read from Mosiah 2:22 “And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments…” He also extended an invitation to the congregation to examine their lives and ask themselves, what does the Lord need for me to do?
