An historic event took place on September 14th, 2014 for the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kwa-Nobuhle, Eastern Cape, South Africa as they have been reorganised into a new unit due to increased growth over the last few years.

Andile Khanti, High Councilor over Public Affairs, said that even though the church building had been extended to accommodate the growing membership, the distance to travel became difficult for many members. He said, “The Lord provided a meeting place at a local school near the area for the Kwa-Nobuhle 2nd Ward saints to worship. Kwa-Nobuhle 1st & 3rd Wards meet at the original chapel, with the 3rd Ward being the newly formed congregation.
Newly called bishop, Bongani Punguzwa, has extensive experience in church administration,. For years he has served as Ward Executive Secretary and Clerk. When called as Bishop, he was serving as a member of the Stake Auditing Committee. Assisting him will be Billy Mothotsa as 1st Councilor and Siyabonga Pityana as 2nd Councilor.
Port Elizabeth Stake President, Sinethemba Neku, reminded the congregations, “ Even though the wards have been divided, we urge the members to remain united.”
Meetings, open to the public, will be held weekly on Sunday at 9:00 am at the building located on 16 Mvetshana Street, Kwa Nobuhle, South Africa.
