LDS Leaders Attend Ordination of Bishop Dube in Centrum Park

During the luncheon reception, representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presented Bishop Dube and his wife a beautiful Christus statue.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Durban were honoured to be invited to attend the recent ordination of Bishop Vusi Dube of the Ethekwini Community Church.  The ordination took place on Easter Sunday at Centrum Park where over 2,000 people were in attendance. 

Archbishop Kitonga, of the Redeemed Gospel Churches in Kenya, performed the ordination. Bishop Dube has been a pastor for 20 years and a member of the KZN legislature.  His mission is to bring all people together to worship the Saviour Jesus Christ and help relieve the community of its social ills.  Bishop Dube and his wife, Dr. Takalani Dube, founded the Ethekwini Community Church in 2005.

During the luncheon reception, representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presented Bishop Dube and his wife a beautiful Christus statue.  Representing the Church were: Brother Ephraim Masane – Assistant Director of the South Africa National Public Affairs Council, President Siyabonga Mkhize  - 2nd Counsellor of the Hillcrest Stake and Pinetown Ward Bishop Graham Sabela. LDS leaders expressed gratitude to Bishop Dube for his hard work and dedication in bringing others to Jesus Christ, strengthening families, and building a stronger community.

Bishop Dube thanked the Church for sharing his special day with him and expressed his appreciation for the friendship the two churches have forged over the years.
