The World Report Captures the Beauty of Namibia and Its People

The World Report completed their recent African tour by visiting Namibia, following filming in West Africa and Mozambique. The group was tasked with documenting the growth of the Church in Africa, as well as the faith and strength of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the continent. Namibia has a little something unusual to offer, with its rolling dunes, wild animals and famous Skeleton Coast. A new district (multi-congregation) was recently created in the country and the work of the Lord has been moving forward at a fast pace. The following photo essay captures some of the stories and images of this amazing corner of the world.

The TV crew interviews Marcel Hans Noble, Branch President of Swakopmund Branch, whilst standing in the Namib Desert near his home.

The desert rolls down towards the Atlantic Ocean, providing amazing African sunsets.

Capturing the flamingos, is videographer David Nystul.

Flamingos are found in the thousands at Walvis Bay, within the Swakopmund Branch boundaries.

An interview with Reverend Maria Kapere, Secretary General of the Namibia Council of Churches.

Reverend Kapere is pictured with District President Demus Makuwa and World Report Executive Editor - Doug Andersen.

The beautiful Lutheran Church stands directly below the site where the country of Namibia was dedicated for missionary work by Elder Russell M. Nelson in the 1990's.

Close to the many churches of Windhoek (the capital city), President Makuwa shared feelings on the growth of the Church and the current freedom of religion enjoyed in Namibia.

A quick trip to see wild animals and get close to nature for crew members David Nystul and Doug Andersen.

Majestic rhinos...

Graceful giraffes...

The video report is expected to be shown on The World Report and Mormon Newsroom news features between now and October, with a larger report during the Church's worldwide General Conference October 3rd and 4th.
