Neighborhood Care Points have been created in Swaziland to help over 70,000 children that have been orphaned from HIV/AIDS. These children often lack food, health services and education. Many of them end up living with their extended families, whose resources are stretched to the breaking point. In response to this crisis, Neighborhood Care Points have been established where children can come together and receive care and support, a meal for the day and some form of education. Care Points are staffed entirely with people that volunteer their time and means. Such is the case at the Lobamba Care Point. The building was in need of a make-over.

Full-time missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) went to work to find a sponsor for the paint. Swaki Construction Company is to thank for making this day possible with their donation. On Monday, 15 April 2013, 14 missionaries from the Swaziland Zone and the Full-time Senior Missionary Couple, Elder and Sister Lombardi, gathered at the Lobamba Neighborhood Care Point to paint the classroom building.
As the missionaries arrived, the children hurriedly gathered around them for a warm welcome. A picture was taken of the entire group in front of their ‘school’ and the work began. After two hours of great fun, the children re-gathered to see the result of the day’s work - a freshly painted building. The children showed off their educational knowledge, sang for the missionaries, treats were dispersed, and then high fives were extended as the children returned to where they stay. It was a great day spent in giving service to a much needed cause. It is a day that will forever be imprinted in the hearts of the missionaries and those who benefited from the project. The teacher and children were a very appreciative group of recipients. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are taught from their youth that giving service emulates the service Jesus Christ gave during His ministry.
