Reverend Kapere Receives Award From LDS Church

Elder Quentin L. Cook and his wife, Mary, visited Namibia during his recent visit to the Africa Southeast Area.  Elder Cook, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS Church, was on a tour the African continent, meeting with local Church members and government leaders.

In Namibia, they were warmly greeted by the Secretary General of the Council of Churches, Reverend Maria Kapere, and her husband, Hon. Asser Kapere, President of the Upper House of Parliament in Namibia.

Reverend Kapere was presented a Family Values Award statue, in recognition of her work in strengthening families, by Elder Kevin Scott Hamilton, representing the LDS Church.  Many government leaders, media representatives and family members attended the award ceremony and lunch hosted by the Church.  Elder Hamilton of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency was joined by his wife, Claudia. Also in attendance were President and Sister Wilson of the Botswana-Namibia Mission.
