Quick Facts: LDS Church Temples in Africa

Africa's era of temple construction begins

Africa is poised to see an unprecedented pace of temple construction as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints witnesses a new phase of growth on the continent. With the April 2017 announcement of the Nairobi Kenya Temple, Africa now has a total of eight temples either announced, under construction or operating.

Here is the latest status update about temples in Africa:

Current Operating Temples: Aba, Nigeria; Accra, Ghana; Johannesburg, South Africa.

Recently Announced: Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Harare, Zimbabwe; Nairobi, Kenya.

Under Construction: Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; Durban, South Africa.
